The sport is all about matching gems in direct lines of 3 or more. Match some gems and they will turn into troops. These troops will then march up the display and hit any critters they come in contact .
That’s an important point to consider though. Should you match a set of gems on one side of the display, they are not likely to ramble over to another. Troops constantly walk straight up from where they are matched.
Stone also power up your character’s unique moves. Match some green gems, as an example, and they will add some mana to some green character that you have got on your military.
Various monsters also have various colors. You can use this to figure out what you have to be hitting them with. Pay attention to the wheel in the top left corner of the display to learn which colour stones are most powerful against which colour characters.
Occasionally you’e not likely to be able to move the board around to use the most effective colors, but keep in mind that it’s always much better to use any colour rather than the one which is weakest against the opponent that you are fighting.
It’s ideal to have as mixed a set of characters as you can, because that’s likely to put you in good stead whatever you come up against. However, you can see what you are likely to be battling before you embark on a level, so if you’ve got plenty of strong characters you can tailor your own army.
